Fish

For three generations, Eide has produced high-quality food in Western Norwegian fjords. We are confident that happy fish will also taste good.

Only the best for the fish

Happy fish give the best results for our company, the local environment, as well as our customers. That’s why we give our fish world-class feed and care. Having the best fish feed – with a high percentage of marine components – also guarantees the Omega 3 content of the fish.
We invest in technology and innovation for sustainable operations to ensure continuous high quality. Our goal is to give the fish as natural a life as possible, by hatching them in fresh mountain water and letting them live their adult life in nettings located in Western Norwegian fjords.

A generational focus on quality

The Eide family have worked in food production in their local community since the 1600s, and have been instrumental in developing the fish farming industry for nearly 50 years. Ever since Knut Johan Eide started fish farming in 1970, three generations have developed the company by the same ideology: an emphasis on high quality at all stages gives long-term, healthy business.

Norwegian Atlantic salmon

Norwegian salmon is one of the healthiest things we can eat. In fact, Norwegian health authorities recommend eating two to three fish meals per week. We grow salmon that develops in natural, healthy Western Norwegian surroundings. We make every effort to use state-of-the-art technological fish welfare solutions, to ensure good conditions for the fish. Read more on this under Innovation

Norwegian trout

We’ve been farming trout from the very beginning – ever since our grandfather Knut Johan started the fish farm in 1970. Norwegian trout is an incredibly tasty and healthy product. It is naturally lower in fat than salmon, with slightly redder meat. Like our salmon, our trout develop under some of the strictest regulations in the world when it comes to fish welfare, sustainability and hygiene.

Export

Every year we sell approximately 3 million salmon to markets all over the world. That’s 60 million meals! Although most of it ends up on European plates, Eide’s quality fish is also sent to the United States, Asia and Africa. That makes us proud!

Value chain

Our focus is on giving the fish as natural a life as possible, in linewith the developmental stages they would have in the wild. We are convincedthat this gives the fish a better life, which in turn gives us a better foodproduct. ‍
The roe is transferred to the hatching system, and after two months, feeding of the smolt begins.
After 8-14 months, the smolt is transported from fresh mountain water to the Western Norwegian fjords. Healthy feed, good care and clean fjord water give rapid growth, and the roe will have turned into adult fish after 24 months.
The fish is transported from the ocean via a slaughterhouse, and within 24 hours it can be found in fish shops all over the world.
